Story
This artwork begins with the name Ar-Rahman, the Most Merciful, forming the heart of the composition and symbolising a nurturing presence that embraces all of creation. From this mercy, the Qur'an is revealed as guidance, with knowledge flowing into the human mind, followed by the creation of humankind - depicted within the mother's womb as a reminder of our origin. The gift of speech is then expressed through the ink pot and qalam, representing the divine ability to communicate, learn, and understand. As the narrative expands, the universe unfolds in precise order, where the sun and the moon move in measured harmony, reflecting a system governed by divine command — a subtle reference to "Be, and it is," as the force behind this balance. This sense of order continues through the Earth, shown as a living sphere with both inner and outer realities, while humanity emerges from clay and the unseen creation of jinn is suggested through smokeless fire. Across the artwork, patterns of nature and the alternation of day and night reveal the countless signs embedded in creation. Repeated throughout is the verse, "Fabi ayyi ālã'i Rabbikumā tukazzibān" — which of your Lord's favours will you deny — inviting the viewer into reflection, where vision moves both outward and inward, gently guiding the heart to recognise the mercy, balance, and signs that surround our existence.
