Story

This second artwork reflects on the Night Journey of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), known as Isra and Miraj. Isra is the miraculous night journey, and Miraj is the ascension, like a ladder rising through the heavens. The composition continues from the previous piece: the footsteps emerging from the Cave of Hira mark the beginning of this celestial journey. At the centre is al-Buraq, the luminous steed that carried the Prophet (PBUH). Above Buraq, seven rising arcs suggest the seven heavens, each with its own pattern and a golden indication of the Prophet (PBUH) he met there. On the left is one of the beautiful Names of Allah, "Dhul-Jalali wal-Ikram," framed by verse 45 of Surah Al-Ankabut, reminding us that prayer protects from indecency and evil. On the right is verse 107 of Surah Al-Anbiya, declaring the Prophet (PBUH) as a mercy to all the worlds. Beneath Buraq, two impressions of the Prophet's (PBUH) sandals rest amidst swirling stars and galaxies, evoking the mystery of the night sky. At the bottom, the rugged mountains, desert landscape, grazing sheep and the flowing Zamzam hint at the earthly scene below Makkah, leading gently into the themes of the next artwork.
